We Cleanup When We Are Finished
Harvesting trees is a messy business. That’s why our clean forestry services focus on leaving your property looking its best. We take extra care to leave your property in excellent condition after every timber harvest. To top off our cleanup, we reseed skidder trails that have run through your lawn or other grassy areas.
However, there are times when a little debris is beneficial. When we cut down timber in dense wood, the leftover tree tops (slash) provide shelter for wildlife. Also, they will promote the regrowth of new trees from the natural decay of the slash.
Because A Healthy Forest Is Our Priority
To promote a healthy forest, we choose mature trees for harvest. Typically, we leave most of the younger trees (those under 20 inches) and the older trees (50 years or older) to keep the forest looking full and healthy.
As part of our clean forestry services, we recommend harvesting your trees every 10 to 20 years to promote regrowth and provide a habitat for wildlife. For example, when a tree is cut down in the forest, we generally leave the tree top lying on the forest floor, known as slash. Our experience has shown that as the slash naturally decays over time, it also provides nutrients in the soil for the regrowth of new shrubs and trees.
These leftover tree tops additionally provide an excellent environment for small animals. Consequently, a wood that has no underbrush is much less habitable in comparison. For this reason, a healthy harvesting of trees in your forest has been proven overall to be an effective method for promoting the regrowth of new trees and a better habitat for wildlife.
